This module expands on the configuration of TCP/IP networks for industrial use as well as the development and deployment of Industrial Ethernet

NFQ level 7 in Engineering or related discipline. Applicants with other qualifications and/or with relevant experience may also be considered through ATU Sligo’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

 
1.Design and build a VLAN based network using network emulation software
 
2.Understand and explain the concept and implemetation of Industrial Ethernet based protocols
 
3.Configure Ethernet routing on routers using IOS in network emulation software
 
4.Understand topology design in implementing a hierarchical network structure
 
5.Demonstrate the importance of network security
