Design Patterns

This year long module examines Design Patterns in detail, their role in the software lifecycle, how and where they should be applied, and the potential benefits that accrue from their use.

N.B Prerequisite skills include a high degree of proficiency in object-oriented programming and experience in software development as part of a team.Two or more years of industrial/commercial experience in software development requiered.

On successful completion of this module, a learner should be able to:

1.Appreciate the benefits of design patterns.

2.Apply design patterns in their own programs.

3.Analyse the relationships between various design patterns.

4.Understand the application of design patterns in an industrial context.

5.Synthesize knowledge of design patterns with previous industrial experience
