AI Ethics and Auditing: Principles and Practices

This unique micro-credential integrates social and ethical perspectives to explore foundational issues in Artificial Intelligence (AI). It provides practical skills in analysing ethical frameworks, bias, privacy, and AI safety. It also examines AI’s influence on society, including the future of work and AI’s effect on the environment. Learners will also gain practical expertise in defining the scope of audit efforts, including determining the objective for assessment and specifying which aspects of the AI system will be scrutinised. It adopts multidisciplinary perspectives from various disciplines.

Offers a unique opportunity for learners to enhance their digital competence and build their capacity to interpret data.  It will familiarize them with basic machine reading techniques in subject areas that do not traditionally offer technical expertise. It will also enhance the career prospects of learners across a broad range of disciplines by equipping them with transferable digital skills and the capacity to work with data relevant to their academic discipline and beyond. Learners will benefit from a range of online lectures and workshops by experts in humanities and computer science.

Professional Certificate in Digital Methods: September Start

The programme offers learners with basic machine reading techniques in subject areas that do not traditionally offer technical expertise.

Basic Synthetic Aperture Radar

Delivered by University College Dublin

This 2.5 credits module will consist primarily of lectures and hands-on computer labs with resources made available through the UCD online learning platform (Brightspace).  Focus on Radar fundamentals: working principles, radar equation, resolutions, waveforms, review of cross correlation, matched filter, bulk compression, coherent processing, Doppler principle. SAR principles and processing will be covered, as well as SAR in practice: overview of past, existing and future scientific and commercial SAR missions, spatial/temporal resolutions, carrier frequency characteristics, imaging modes.
